Prevalence Of familial hypercholeSTerolaemia (FH) in Italian Patients with coronary artERy disease: The POSTER study

2020

Background and aims: Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) is a powerful risk factor for cardiovascular (CV) events. High levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) since birth are linked to the early onset of atherosclerotic disease. A genetic mutation determining FH is present in about one subject out of 250; FH should be more represented among subjects with a documented diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD). The POSTER Study evaluated the prevalence of FH in Italian patients with a recent CAD event. Methods: Eighty-two cardiology centres enrolled patients with a documented CAD event; CV risk profile, drug therapy and biochemical parameters were collected. Dutch Lipid Clinic…

Troponin I Assay for Identification of a Significant Coronary Stenosis in Patients with Suspected Acute Myocardial Infarction and Wide QRS Complex

2016

Background Common ECG criteria such as ST-segment changes are of limited value in patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and bundle branch block or wide QRS complex. A large proportion of these patients do not suffer from an AMI, whereas those with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) equivalent AMI benefit from an aggressive treatment. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the diagnostic information of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in hemodynamically stable patients with wide QRS complex and suspected AMI. Methods In 417 out of 1818 patients presenting consecutively between 01/2007 and 12/2008 in a prospective multicenter observational study with suspected AMI a pro…

Temporary occlusions of coronaries arteries by thermoreversible gel : leGoo.To experimental to human case

2011

ObjectifsThe objective of this work is to assess the feasibility of using the LeGoo gel to occlude the coronary arteries temporarily, to facilitate the performance of coronary bypass (off-pump technique), initially in pigs then in human. A Secondary objective was to evaluate the impact of the injection on the endothelium and myocardium.MethodesThe first study evaluated in pigs the feasibility of using LeGoo, while performing coronary bypass on the left anterior descending or on the right coronary artery and to evaluate the endothelial function of coronary arteries occluded by the gel.The second study analyzed endothelial function of internal thoracic arteries, in the area occluded by the ge…

Pressor amines in coronary artery bypass grafting procedure with and without the use of extracorporeal circulation

2017

Wstęp: Operacje rewaskularyzacji mięśnia sercowego są najczęściej wykonywanymi procedurami w praktyce kardiochirurgicznej. Rozwój technik pomostowania tętnic wieńcowych bez użycia krążenia pozaustrojowego spowodował, iż modyfikacjom uległy również techniki znieczulenia. W prowadzeniu znieczulenia do zabiegów typu OPCA B anestezjolog musi szczególnie szybko reagować na częste, czasem nieprzewidywalne zmiany sytuacji hemodynamicznej. Cel pracy: Celem pracy było porównanie zastosowania amin presyjnych wśród pacjentów poddanych chirurgicznej rewaskularyzacji mięśnia sercowego z krążeniem pozaustrojowym i bez niego. Materiał i metody: Badanie miało charakter retrospektywny. Badaniem objęto 80 ch…
